Mako Medical ICD-10 Information
The International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) is a system of coding that replaced the ICD-9-CM system on October 1, 2015, for covered entities under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). ICD-10-CM has a different format and a larger number of characters than ICD-9-CM.
MAKO Medical provides ICD-10 coding resources that may be useful for your office.
MAKO Medical depends on the ordering physician to provide diagnostic information for each patient. In accordance with HIPAA standards, MAKO Medical requires a valid diagnosis at the highest level of detail in order to bill third-party payers, including Medicare and Medicaid. Missing diagnoses, diagnosis codes that are not specific enough, and vague narratives all require follow-up with the ordering physician or his/her authorized representative for clarification. Providing a formatted ICD-10-CM code when you order will reduce letters and/or calls.
